About the Pipeline Valves in the Catalogue

This section includes steel gate valves, check valves, ball valves for above-ground and underground installation, and an electrically actuated shut-off valve. For each item, the nominal size DN and nominal pressure PN according to GALARIS inventory records, the quantity in stock and the indicative price excluding VAT are shown.

DN is the nominal size, the nominal connection size in millimetres. PN is the nominal pressure: per GOST 356-80, it is the highest gauge pressure at a medium temperature of 20 °C at which long-term operation of the valve is permissible. In domestic designations, PN is usually stated in kgf/cm²; for example, PN 16 corresponds to 1.6 MPa, PN 64 to 6.4 MPa, and PN 160 to 16 MPa. The values PN 64 and PN 80 are permitted by the standard for valves whose production was established before the standard was introduced; therefore, PN 63 and PN 64 are different values, not a typo.

The working pressure of a valve depends on the body material and the temperature of the medium and may be lower than the nominal pressure. Therefore, selection depends not only on DN and PN but also on the working medium, its temperature and the working pressure at your facility.

The type of design affects the application. Gate valves and ball valves, as a rule, operate in the “fully open” or “fully closed” positions and are not intended for throttling — this is stated in the manufacturers’ manuals. Check valves automatically prevent reverse flow; both lift check valves and swing check valves are produced under this name, so the design needs to be clarified.

For the valves in stock, the manufacturer, make, closure type, material, connection (flanged or butt-weld) and actuator type are not stated in the inventory records. This information is to be confirmed from the nameplate and data sheet. In your request, state the DN, PN, quantity, working medium and temperature, connection type and place of delivery — this will allow a specialist to check more quickly whether the item matches your requirements.

The card for each item divides the data into three parts: data confirmed by GALARIS inventory records, reference characteristics of the type with a reference to the source, and parameters that require confirmation.
